Counselling & Art Therapy Policies
I strive to offer a compassionate and professional environment for both children ages 6 and up and their parents. Below are the key policies that guide our work together and help create a safe, respectful, and supportive space.
1. Confidentiality
Your privacy is a priority. Everything shared in session is confidential, with a few legal exceptions:
-
If there is risk of harm to yourself or othersIf there is suspected child abuse or neglect
-
If records are subpoenaed by a court of law.
-
If discussed during professional supervision (with details anonymized
These standards align with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and the Canadian Art Therapy Association (CATA).
2. Clinical Supervision
As part of my commitment to ethical and effective care, I regularly consult with a qualified clinical supervisor. This supports ongoing professional growth and ensures high standards in therapy. Personal information is never disclosed without your consent.
3. Fees & Payment
Standard fee: $140 per 50-minute session
Payment methods: e-transfer to larkinboyletherapy@gmail.com, credit card, or direct billing (if applicable)
4. Missed Appointments & Cancellation Policy
I understand that life happens! If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance so I can offer your spot to another client. Because my schedule is limited and each session is held especially for you, cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed appointments, will be charged $140.
Thank you for your kindness and understanding—it helps me continue providing the best care possible for all my clients.

5. Art Materials
All materials are provided for in-person sessions. For virtual sessions, I offer a suggested list of simple, household art supplies. No artistic skill is required—art therapy is about expression, not product.
6. Online Sessions
Secure virtual counselling is available through the privacy-compliant platform known as Janeapp. You’ll need a quiet space, stable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone.
7. Privacy & Record Keeping
Client records are securely stored in accordance with BCACC standards.
8. Consent for Services
Before beginning therapy, all clients (or legal guardians for minors) will be asked to sign an Informed Consent Form, which outlines:
-
What to expect in therapy
-
Your rights and responsibilities
-
Limits to confidentiality

9. Parent/Guardian Involvement (for Children & Youth)
-
For clients under 14, parent involvement is recommended
-
A parent check-in is encouraged every 5 sessions
-
Youth aged 12+ can typically consent to their own counselling in BC
10. Scope of Practice
